Bill left his earthly body April 6, 2005. He was a wonderful, loving, and funny Dad and Grandpa, and he will be missed. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a retired executive of GE, and an avid golfer and member of Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn, daughter Pamela, Grand-daughter Tiffany, and Daughter-in-law Phyllis. He has three remaining children: Rick, and James Carpenter, and Cindy Milburn. His Grandchildren are: Christopher Lowe, Gina Haynes, John Carpenter, Ryan Milburn, Eric Carpenter, Shannon and Tabatha Carpenter. He has eight great-grandchildren. He was loved by so many wonderful people who will never forget his great sense of humor, his generosity, and his ability to make holidays even more special than they are normally. He had an uncanny knack for getting people to take themselves less seriously, and he could take it as well as he gave it. Everyone who knew him has a favorite funny story to tell. The Sunday night dinner has always been a tradition in his household, know matter how long it had been since you last attended, and no matter who you brought as a guest, everyone felt welcomed at his table. Sharing a meal in his house was much like the Sacramental meal at church, and it brought joy with stability to his family.
This man LIVED WELL, and
Our Dad/Grandpa, was the sure and steady Captain of our family, and we know his strong hand will be on our shoulder as we'll miss the strength and courage he showed each of us.
