It is with deep sense of grief and sorrow that I write, on behalf of
the Vice-Chancellor, Professor C.O.E. Onwuliri, the Management,
Senate, Staff and Students of the Federal University Owerri to
commiserate with our distinguished Alumni and Alumnae on the death of
our beloved and respected teacher, mentor and administrator Professor
J.I. Ejimaya which sad event took place on the 6th of February 2008.
This bereavement is a sad and painful one that affects all Nigerians
and in particular the Ejimaya family, our distinguished Alumni and
Alumnae and the entire FUTO community. From every account, Professor
Ejimaya was an epitome of good virtues and exemplary in conduct as a
teacher, administrator and mentor. There is no doubt that his death
has created a huge vacuum in the Ejimaya family, the FUTO community
and indeed the scientific community as we would all miss his wise
counsel. I therefore urge all our Alumni and Alumnae to take solace
that Professor Ejimaya lived well and made resounding contributions
that will continue to advance the cause of humanity.
As you mourn his death, we assure you of our prayers for God's grace
and comfort to abide with you all in a special way at this time.
However, we know that for those who truly believe, to be with Christ
is a lot better.
