OBITUARY
Of “Gun Violence”©
AUGUST 25, 2007

By: Liz Bishop-Goldsmith

Gun Violence was born with a vengeance when members of this civilized world did not know the difference from right and wrong. Gun Violence secretly invaded communities where poverty, unemployment, homelessness, and those of color reside. Gun Violence knew that it could not grow in communities where neighbors looked out for one another, or where it would surely end in a quick and sudden death. Gun Violence moved from community to community until it finally had a residence in every community in this great-civilized country - and beyond.

Drugs and Gangs decided to partner with Gun Violence at a very early age, and together they wrecked havoc on so many lives. Drug addiction and Gang violence knew that Gun Violence was their best friend and together they were unbeatable, or at least they thought they were! Gun Violence had also become friends with other special interest groups, and many of our elected officials. Gun Violence, Drugs, and Gangs soon realized that as long as they had the special interest groups and many of our elected officials on their side, they could not be stopped because these didn’t have common sense, and they were more interested in the dollar than they are in saving lives. Some of our elected officials are finally saying “enough is enough” and forming their own coalitions, instead of helping us to stop Gun Violence.

In 1994, Gun Violence met Liz Bishop-Goldsmith and she decided, “Enough is enough.” She told Gun Violence and “the world” that she would not rest until it stopped destroying the lives of family, loved ones and friends. Gun Violence inspired her to form the international organization “Mothers Against Guns” to wage war against it. Gun Violence knew it had a fight on its hands with that group, and asked Drugs and Gangs to help stop them. The battle to fight Gun Violence, Drugs and Gangs began.

It is reported that each year in this great-civilized country, Gun Violence claims at least 30,000 lives, and only God knows how many other lives are lost to Drugs and Gangs. Gun Violence realized that it could not continue on the path of destruction and on August 25th, 2007, it went silently to hell - where it belongs.

Gun violence leaves to mourn the many precious families whose lives were turned upside down, and the many victims whose lives will forever be scarred from that deadly, and brutal act.
