Sgt. Richard Matthew Febbi was laid to rest July 12, 2005 less than a mile from the house he grew up in. He rests a few hundred yards from his high school, his church, the fire station he served and where his mother now resides. Richie was a USMC veteran and was active duty in the U.S. Army.
The gathering included veterans of the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, Fire Department, Police Department and friends from all generations. Richie's high school class was there, aunts, uncles, friends and just folks that wanted to say thanks or goodbye. The Honor Guard at the casket included USMC, U.S. Army and Fire Department in dress uniforms. His escort included the same services - a spirit of cooperation between the units that Richie had devoted his life.
The funeral procession took place on a Butler Fire Truck and before the church services Richie had a last tour of the places he grew up. Riche was escorted by 9 motorcycles from the Leathernecks MC of NJ, 2 fire trucks and 3 police cars.
