wheatland woman was station owner-bookkeeper, shirley a. blakeley, 73 laird ave. wheatland, passed away unexpectedly at 12:09 a.m. tuesday, june 2, 2009. in UPMC horizon, farrell, after a brief illness. she was 79. mrs. blakeley was born monday, dec. 30, 1929, in sharpsville to srthur and viloet ague bailey. she worked as a book keeper for blakeley gulf in vienna, which she owned until 1976. she was a member of sharpsville shurch of nazarene. shirley was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing at american legion post 162, sharpsville; and veterans of foreign wars post 6233, west middlesex. as a dave blaney fan, she enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. her husband, gilbert blakeley, whom she married june 27, 1955, passed away sept. 5, 2005. surviving are: five daughters, violet buterbaugh, wheatland; joanne rogan, leavittsburg, ohio, and her companion john fegley; margaret and her husband wayne bowers, pulaski; mary ann and her husband roy fabian, flower; and shirley ann blakeley vienna; two sons. gilbert m. blakeley Jr., wheatland; and daniel m. rogan. brookfield; 20 grand children, 31 great grand children and seven great great grand children; and nieces and nephews. besides her husband, shirley was preceded in death by her parents, srthur bailey and violet harding; a son, thomas blakeley; a son in law, walter buterbaugh; two sisters, madeline darlington and mary plant; and a brother, joseph bailey.
